Arriving on a Domestic Flight: What Changes
Connect through Istanbul to Antalya, Dalaman or Bodrum and you arrive at your destination as a domestic passenger. Three things are then different: the terminal, the time to the exit, and which flight number belongs in the booking.
- Flight number
- the final leg
- Customs
- already done
- Terminal
- usually another
The terminal
At most of our airports domestic and international are separate: Dalaman, Bodrum, İzmir, Ankara and Trabzon each have an international and a domestic terminal. At Antalya a dedicated domestic terminal sits alongside the two international ones.
Your driver waits at the terminal that belongs to your flight number. That is the real reason the number has to be right: it determines whether you emerge on the international or the domestic side — and the two are a walk apart.
The final leg's flight number
On a connecting itinerary the booking needs the number of the flight you actually land on at your destination — not the long-haul flight into Istanbul. Your bags and your arrival time follow the second flight. Give the first and the driver tracks a flight landing at a different airport. The details are in giving your flight number correctly.
You are out faster than you expect
Passport control and customs are already behind you from entering at Istanbul. At the destination only the baggage belt remains, and then the exit. Expect to be standing in the arrivals hall considerably sooner than after a direct flight from Europe.
For the transfer that changes nothing — dispatch follows the actual landing and the driver is there. It simply means you are likely to wait less rather than more. The stages in detail are in how long it takes from landing to getting in your vehicle.
If your bags were not checked through
On separately booked flights you have to collect your luggage in Istanbul and check it in again. That takes time and is the commonest reason a connection gets tight. Plan generously in that case, and give us the number of the flight you will realistically make — not the one on paper.
Northern Cyprus is the special case
Flights to Ercan Airport route through a Turkish airport but are not an ordinary connection. The same rule applies: we need the final leg's number, because only that says anything about your arrival in northern Cyprus.
Common questions
I am connecting through Istanbul. Which flight number do you need?
The domestic flight you land on at your destination. Your bags and your arrival time follow that flight, not the long-haul one.
Which terminal does the driver wait at?
The domestic terminal, if you arrive on a domestic flight. Which one that is follows from your flight number — you do not need to work it out.
Is it quicker out of the terminal on a domestic flight?
Usually yes: passport control and customs are already behind you and only the belt remains. It changes nothing for the transfer; the driver is there.
I missed my connection.
Send us the new flight number as soon as you have it, at night too. Until then we are tracking the old flight, and it lands without you.
